I had such a wonderful time with all of these ladies and getting to hear their stories.
Meet the beautiful Angela Winkler
I would like to introduce you to Angela Winkler, My new friend, my sister in pink.
This is her story:
I am a wife, a mother of two, to a sweet headstrong young daughter and an active wild little boy.
While nursing my son, I discovered a lump in my left breast. This discovery changed the direction of my life dramatically.
I was faced with having an ultrasound, a mammogram, three biopsies, and multiple other tests.
June 14, 2016 will be a date forever etched into my mind as it was confirmed that
I had invasive ductal carcinoma in the upper left breast.
The ugly cancer had invaded my breast and my body.
It had spread throughout my left breast and into one of my lymph nodes.
I have recently endured a bilateral mastectomy and I am currently undergoing 6 rounds of chemo treatments.
Once that is completed, I will have to have 6 weeks of radiation followed by the removal of my ovaries.
The final step will be reconstructive surgery and medication for at least 10 years.
I still have a long road ahead of me but I am a fighter and will continue pushing through.
This journey has taught me to not take the little things for granted, embrace my family and friends and enjoy life every day.
I am thankful for detecting the lump and listening to my body.
I encourage each you to complete your monthly breast exams.
It literally takes a Minute or two, doing this easy step can make all the difference....early detection is best!
